BIG News!

Big, BIG, BIG NEWS!!!

We've had a hard time keeping our excitement contained and there are some rumors circulating so we decided it's time to reveal our next big step...

Tops and Bobbins is now an Authorized Janome Dealer!!!

We are thrilled to be partnering with such a wonderful brand and be able to bring you their fantastic sewing machines!

Those of you who know us know that we are dedicated to providing our quilters with the very best quality products and we believe that Janome machines will enhance the other wonderful goods we have to offer in our Shoppe :)

We'll be meeting with the Janome team this week to place our very first order so we'll have sewing and embroidery machines in the Shoppe very soon!

Bringing in sewing machines means we'll need to adjust our class schedule a bit so we can offer exciting new quilting and embroidery classes...

We will be continuing our Sit and Sew, UFO Day on the 1st Monday of each month; the next one on the schedule is August 4th at 10:30am - 3:30pm

Quilts of Valor will also have a new schedule... starting in August we will be meeting once a month; that date will be announced soon.

Thank you for all of your support and good wishes... We couldn't make this step without all of you.

THANK YOU!!!

THIS WEEK'S SPECIAL

It's Summertime so we think that it's the perfect time to have a "Yard Sale!"

Also, we need to make some room for the new sewing machines ;)

Buy 3 continuous yards and get the 4th yard FREE!

This applies to even our new fabrics so come see all of the gorgeous new yardage we have this week!

"Minky" Cuddle fabrics, precuts, and panels are excluded from the Yard Sale.

This sale is also for our online customers, no coupon code needed... Just put 3 continuous yards in your online shopping cart and we'll throw in the 4th yard free :)

Green Fairy Quilts Charity Trip

Green Fairy Quilts annual charity trip to Romania!
Many of you follow Green Fairy Quilts, but for those of you who don't, I wanted to post a little bit about what they do there each year. You can go directly to their site here, or read a copy of their post below:

Hello everyone!  We received an e-mail last week from Gica in Romania who helps us coordinate our charity effort in Bucharest.  Gica let us know that they are really in need of food right now and asked when we'd be able to come back.  We just booked our flights and are leaving in a couple weeks.  We are hoping to raise some money to buy food for the street orphans and those in need.  Of course we always pay 100% of our own travel expenses and we use 100% of your donations in Bucharest to buy food and other necessary supplies for those in need in Bucharest.  We have had some of you donate with your online orders which we appreciate.  For those who don't know, you can choose to add $1 or more to your cart for the charity when buying fabric from our site.  Here's a picture from a previous trip showing some of the food we purchased in Bucharest with your donations -
We visited street orphans living in underground utility holes, sewers, abandoned apartments etc and were able to give them each a couple weeks worth of food.  Thousands of Romanians live on less than $1 a day, and together we can make a huge difference.

We have chosen to not take quilts with us on this trip, and to focus only on buying and handing out food.  We hope to raise enough money to buy extra food to leave with Gica so he can continue to hand out food after we leave.

If you'd like to help, please visit our Charity page here and click on the donate button in the middle of the page.  You can also watch videos from our past 5 trips.  100% of your donation will go towards this cause.  You can also help buy sharing this page on your blog or facebook account.  Thank you so much everyone!!

(p.s. - an example of some of the food items your donation will purchase will include rice, beans, sugar, corn meal, potatoes, milk, bananas, yogurt, oranges, cheese, bread, meat, juice, chocolate bar, noodles and more.)

This is such a worthy cause, if you can help, please do. We have sent quilts with Judi and Clint in the past and they are just the nicest people. Quilters are so generous, they are the best!
I've never seen such big hearts as I do within the quilting community!

Friday the 13th

Happy Friday the 13th!
I’m not superstitious so no big deal to me…
in fact, I’m having a great day!

This is good news because
I had a little meltdown a few days ago.
Ok, it was a big meltdown and resulted in
consumption of chocolate.
Not regular chocolate either, I had to get into the dark stuff to
suffocate the whimpering worrier in my head.

So stress is nothing new. Neither is homework.
Yup, school is back in session and it is kicking my butt.
I’m tired, stressed and whiney... my poor family is sick of me,
I think they’re ready to kick me out!

So what’s so good about today??? My homework is done!
That, and I got some business-y things done so
we can get into our new shop space (hopefully) soon!

Oh! The new website is up @ TopsandBobbins.com
If you haven't had a chance, go check it out... right now, I'll wait right here...

Isn't it gorgeous! I just love it!
A big shout out and thank you to my hubby and the
wonderful people at Like Sew Websites for making it
exactly what I didn't know I wanted...
I hope you love it too :)

To celebrate, I’m going to dust off my sewing machine and
start cranking out some bindings on a few charity quilts
that have been patiently waiting their turn.

Next, I might even cook dinner…
okay, well not let’s get crazy,
someone else can cook tonight, I’m quilting! :)

gratuitous Friday the 13th black cat pic... Enjoy!!!
